Budget Census

Budget Census

Many organizations utilize a “Patient Per Day” (commonly abbreviated to PPD) method of defining their budget over the course of their budget period. Procurement Partners now offers a new tool called the Budget Census to allow for this method of budgeting to be easily utilized within our system!

NOTE: Census data is not automatically enabled within Procurement Partners. To enable this functionality, please contact our Implementation team or your Account Manager.

When setting up the Budget Census, organizations have the option to enable either an Average Daily Census or a Daily Census. The Average Daily Census allows for a singular average value to be entered into the system. The Daily Census allows for a different PPD value to be entered for each day of the budget period, creating an average across all the entered days.

Average Daily Census

If you have the Average Daily Census enabled, clicking on the Budget -> Census link will show a singular value. Enter your average daily census here.

Daily Census

If you have the Daily Census enabled, clicking on the Budget -> Census link will show a value for each day within your budget period. You will be able to enter a value for each day, and the system will calculate an average based on all entered days; days with no value entered will be left out of the average.

Budget Period Values

The Budget -> Budget Period Values tab will display two columns. Enter a value directly into the Amount column to set a static amount for your budget period value. Enter a value into the PPDAmount column to utilize your Census information and calculate the appropriate amount. The amount will be calculated as:

PPDAmount * Average Daily Census * number of days in budget period

Budget Import

It is possible to submit automated feeds of your PPD and census data. However, these must be submitted as a specific, simplified CSV or text format. Many clinical systems can provide this file, but it may come at an additional charge. Ask your Account Manager for more details.
